About Us
The Iranian Cultural Society Manchester was founded in 1984 by a group of Iranian parents in Manchester who had settled in the UK. In order to keep the Persian language alive for their children who were attending mainstream English speaking schools full-time, parents, some with teaching qualifications, started organising weekend Persian language learning classes. The weekend classes became very popular and soon the Society started receiving interest from non-Persian speaking residents too wanting to learn Farsi.
Now, thanks to our dedicated team of volunteer teachers (D.B.S checked & approved) and support from parents, we are proud to announce that we teach many students, from primary age of 6 to adults of all ages, some of whom go on to sit in GCSE & A- Level exams in Persian Reading & Writing. Furthermore, we strive to demonstrate the culture, literature and authentic traditions of Iran. To achieve this, we organise cultural programs, actively involving pupils who perform music pieces, singing, dancing, poetry and stage plays.
